Three new releases from The Arterburn Wellness Series and David C. Cook Publishers:

New Releases

Mary Davis’s novella, Holly and Ivy, was released as part of A Bouquet of Brides Collection from Barbour. In this delightful collection, readers meet seven American women who were named for various flowers but struggle to bloom where God planted them. Can love help them grow to their full potential?

Phillip Robinson and Rondol Hammer released Forgiveness in the First Degree with FaithHappenings Publishers. The gun was never supposed to go off. When a drug dealer assured twenty-nine-year-old Ron Hammer and his brother-in-law that they could make some quick easy money, they were intrigued. He promised them that when a local grocer delivered a bag of money to his store to cash Friday paychecks, they only needed to show him a gun and he’d hand over the bag.
But high on meth and dulled by liquor, they ended up in a scuffle with their target, and the gun accidentally fired.

Marjorie Jackson signed with Barbour for the publication of The Devoted Life: A Girl’s Guided Creative Journal. A follow-up to her first book, Devoted, it will publish in late 2018.

Jonathan McKee signed with Barbour for his next book, The Bullying Breakthrough. It will publish in early 2019.

Kara Powell signed a 2-book deal with Baker Books for Unleashed, which will publish in 2020, and a second untitled book to publish the following year.

Bob Welch and Dick Fosbury signed with Skyhorse Publishing for The Wizard of Foz, the never-before-told story of Dick Fosbury, a failed Oregon athlete whose new high-jump style ultimately helped him win a gold medal in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and revolutionized the event so completely that no jumpers today use any other style but his.

What We’re Celebrating

Mandy Harvey, who along with WordServe client Mark Atteberry is the author of Sensing the Rhythm (due out from Howard Sept. 27), made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent! The singer-songwriter has been deaf since 2006, yet she has perfect pitch and kept pursuing music via her ability to feel vibrations. Her incredible story is detailed in the book, available for pre-order now.

Martha Bolton received a Golden Scroll Merit Award for Fiction for The Home Game (FaithHappenings Publishers). The award was announced at the annual Golden Scroll Banquet, sponsored by the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) and held at the Hilton Plaza Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 27, 2017.

Margot Starbuck also received an AWSA Golden Scroll Merit Award for He Knows Your Name. Her book with David King, Overplayed, received a Silver Scroll Merit Award. And He Knows Your Name was honored again by the National Indie Book Awards as an Excellence Award Finalist. Congrats, Margot!

Leslie Leyland Fields’ latest book, Crossing the Waters: Following Jesus through the Storms, the Fish, the Doubt, and the Seas, will be translated into the Slovak language. Additionally, RightNow Media is heading to the Alaskan island where Leslie lives to film a video study of Crossing the Waters, one of just 20 books a year RightNow chooses for their video study series!

New Releases

Jan Drexler released Naomi’s Hope with Revell. The third book in the Journey to Pleasant Prairie series, it follows Naomi Schrock in an 1846 Amish community in Indiana as she finds herself caught between the plans she had made for her future and the tantalizing thought that a man named Cap Stoltzfus might be part of a life she never dared hope for.

Christopher and Michael Ross released Building Faith Block by Block [An Unofficial Minecraft Guide] with Harvest House. This series of 60 devotionals for kids combines Minecraft tips and tricks with Scripture and discussion of real life struggles to help kids overcome life’s biggest challenges and build their faith, block by block.

Laurie Polich Short released When Changing Nothing Changes Everything with IVP. Laurie shows how the way you see can have an impact on how you live. New Contracts 

U.S. Congressman Trey Gowdy and U.S. Senator Tim Scott signed with Tyndale for their book Indivisible, a story of authenticity and commitment in a city and political culture that rarely embrace either one, in which the authors model a path of racial reconciliation through honest conversations and genuine friendship.

Sarah Varland signed a two-book deal with Love Inspired for her Moose Haven Series.

Ron Archer signed a two-book deal with Tyndale: a memoir about his ascent from a troubled childhood in inner-city Cleveland to his conversion to Christ; and You Can Be Friends with Anyone, focusing on techniques and strategies to help people build a strong network of friends in both their professional and personal lives.
